Emir Sultan Mosque ( Turkish Emir Sultan Camii ) is a mosque in Darmstadt , whose name is based on the Emir Sultan Mosque in Bursa , a twin city of Darmstadt.

On July 6, 1996 the foundation stone for the current Külliye (cultural center) was laid. The move to Mainzer Strasse took place in 1999. The mosque has two minarets 27 meters high and a women's gallery . The city of Darmstadt granted the property as heritable building right . The Emir Sultan Mosque is the first and so far only new mosque of Avrupa Türk-İslam Birliği (ATIB) in Germany.

Mosque association

The “Turkish-Islamic Center Darmstadt” was founded in 1974. Since 1980 the mosque community has been gathering in a backyard mosque on Bleichstrasse. The Turkish-Islamic cultural association has around three hundred members. In addition, the mosque is also used by a small Bosnian Muslim community.
