Srećko Lipovčan

Srećko Lipovčan (born September 24, 1942 in Zagreb , Yugoslavia ; † April 9, 2009 in Zagreb, Croatia ) was a Yugoslav and later Croatian publicist , journalist , publisher , university lecturer and chairman of the board of directors of the Croatian news agency HINA .

Life

After graduating from high school, Lipovčan studied humanistic sciences in the field of literary studies at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Zagreb . In this specialty, Lipovčan obtained the degree of doctor . His journalistic training took place at Radio Zagreb .

His studies in history , German and Slavic studies took place at the University of Cologne and Berlin . From 1963 Srećko Lipovčan worked as a newspaper journalist, critic and editor on the newspapers "Telegram" , "Prolog" , "Hrvatski tjednik - Croatian weekly paper" and was active on the radio in Zagreb, Cologne and Berlin . From 1979 to 1983 he worked as an editor in the music information center "MIC". From 1990 to 1993 Lipovčan worked as a permanent correspondent for Deutsche Welle in Cologne.

In 1992 Lipovčan founded the "Erasmus Publishing House" and acted as co-editor. He was a member of the "Association of Croatian Writers" (DHK), and for many years created issues of the Croatian magazine for international literary relations "Most / The Bridge". In addition, Lipovčan was a council member in the Croatian Ministry for International Cultural Cooperation and European Integration and in the Council of Croatian Book Publishers and Booksellers.

Srećko Lipovčan's scientific and research activities mainly included the Croatian cultural and political history of the 19th and 20th centuries, Croatian newspaper studies and journalism, the mass media in Croatia , Ivo Pilar's life's work and Croatian-European migrants .

In total, Lipovčan published fifty technical and scientific papers at forty scientific and technical meetings in Croatia and abroad. Lipovčan also published around a hundred and fifty books. On February 16, 2007, Srećko Lipovčan was commissioned by the Croatian Parliament as President of the Board of Directors of the Croatian news agency HINA in the field of media. On March 6, 2007, Lipovčan was unanimously elected President at the constituent meeting of the News Agency's Board of Directors.
