Emir Baighasin

Emir Kenscheghasyuly Baighasin ( Kazakh Эмир Кенжеғазыұлы Байғазин , Russian Эмир Кенжегазиевич Байгазин , Emir Kenschegasijewitsch Baigasin * 19th July 1984 in Alma-Ata ) is a Kazakh film director and screenwriter .

Life

Emir Baighasin began his career as an actor at the theater of Aqtöbe , where he worked from 2002 to 2004. He then studied film and television directing at the National Art School. In 2007 he took part in the Asian Film Academy in Busan , South Korea, and in 2008 in the Berlinale Talent Campus in Berlin.

After a series of short films, he presented his first full-length feature film in 2013, Harmony Lessons . The drama about the experiences of a young person in the Kazakh province was included in the competition of the 63rd Berlinale . The cameraman of the film, Asis Schambakiev, was awarded the Silver Bear at the festival for outstanding artistic achievement .

His film The Wounded Angel , the second part of the trilogy about teenagers and their complex inner world, premiered on February 16, 2016 as part of the Panorama Special program at the 66th Berlinale .
