Emma Berndl ( June 10, 1877 in Ischl - March 22, 1934 ) was an Austrian theater and silent film actress .

Life

Emma Berndl, daughter of Karl Berndl , received dramatic lessons from Jocza Savits . According to Velhagen & Klasing's monthly magazine from 1901, it is said to have been of Guardian size and, according to Ludwig Fulda's correspondence, corresponded to the beauty ideal of the Kaulbach era. In addition, as stated in the Deutsche Thalia 1902, it could be used for anything.

She found her first engagement in 1895 at the court theater in Karlsruhe. She worked there for four years and was then employed at the Munich Hofbühne, where she remained until 1928. Emma Berndl temporarily lived in Munich at Herzog-Rudolf-Strasse 24 / II.

Despite her success, there were also critical voices about her game. For example, she designed a role “with a good routine and without any understanding”, was once read in the Schaubühne ; and several years after her death she was condemned as sweet and dispassionately sentimental.

Your great niece is Christa Berndl .
