Emma Clayton

Emma Clayton (born June 11, 1968 in England ) is a British writer for young people.

Life

Clayton was born in 1968 to a Royal Air Force officer . The family moved often because of her father's job. When Clayton was seven years old, her father died. The family returned to England from Gibraltar and settled in the Oxford area, where Clayton and her brothers spent the rest of their childhood. She left school at the age of 16. After working as a field archaeologist in her late teenage years , she worked as a freelance illustrator. She began studying screenwriting in her mid-twenties .

Her debut novel The Roar was published in July 2008 . In February 2012, The Whisper was released as its sequel.

Clayton has a daughter.
