Endel Nõgene

Endel Nõgene (born March 9, 1950 in Tartu ) is an Estonian conductor.

Life and music

Endel Nõgene attended school in Laiuse , Jõgeva and Tartu. He graduated in 1974 his degree in trumpet at Helmut Orusaar at the State Conservatory of Tallinn ( Tallinna Riiklik Konservatoorium ) from. There he also studied orchestral conducting with Roman Matsov . From 1975 to 1977 he trained as a conductor at the Conservatory in Leningrad, Russia, with Viktor Fedotov and from 1977 to 1979 at the Opera and Ballet Theater in Vilnius, Lithuania .

From 1970 to 1974 Nõgene was employed at the Estonia Opera and Concert Hall in Tallinn . In 1975 he founded the chamber orchestra of the theater, concert and opera house " Vanemuine " in Tartu in southern Estonia. From 1974 to 1981 and from 1987 to 1999 Nõgene was conductor of the "Vanemuine", 1980/81 and from 1982 to 1987 its chief conductor. From 1999 to 2005 he was a conductor at the Estonia concert and opera house in the Estonian capital.

Endel Nõgene has appeared primarily as an opera conductor in Estonia and abroad.

Awards

In 1988, Endel Nõgene was awarded the Estonian SSR Honored Artist Award.

Private life

Endel Nõgene is married to the music teacher Eve Nõgene. Her son is the Tartu music producer Paavo Nõgene (* 1980).
