The Energieagentur.NRW GmbH (EA.NRW) is a private company and works on behalf of North Rhine-Westphalia on all aspects of the subject area of energy efficiency , renewable energy and climate protection . In addition to the headquarters in Düsseldorf, there are locations in Wuppertal and in the Gelsenkirchen Science Park .

The establishment goes back to the year 1990. On January 1, 2007, the Energy Agency NRW was merged with the State Initiative for Future Energies under the name EnergyAgentur.NRW. As a result of the merger, the range of tasks at EA.NRW has expanded. The EA.NRW was renamed the EnergieAgentur.NRW GmbH on February 7th, 2008. The shareholders of the GmbH are Agiplan GmbH and Ee Energy Engineers GmbH. The Agiplan GmbH acts with its subsidiary Prisma Consult GmbH.

Until 2010, the company was assigned to the Ministry of Economics, SMEs and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . During the black-yellow coalition 2005-2010 Christa Thoben was Minister of Economic Affairs. After the NRW state elections on May 9, 2010 , the SPD and the Greens agreed in their coalition agreement that the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia would take responsibility for the Energy Agency NRW. The minister responsible was Johannes Remmel . With the black and yellow state government since June 30, 2017, responsibility for the Energy Agency NRW lies with the Ministry for Economics, Innovation, Digitization and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . The responsible minister is Andreas Pinkwart from the FDP.

Fields of work

The company conducts public education and information, offers initial advice and further training for companies, municipalities, administrations and citizens. She also coordinates projects at research institutions, universities and schools in the state. The company is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and is a regional partner of the German Energy Agency and KfW .

The work covers a wide range of topics in the field of energy technology and energy management, aimed at companies, municipalities and citizens. In a 2014 study by DIW, the company was awarded first place among the state energy agencies in Germany. The reasons given were the broad range of tasks and target group focus. In addition to the typical tasks of an energy agency such as energy advice and the creation of information offers, the company is responsible for cluster management of the networks “EnergieRegion.NRW” and energy research “CEF.NRW” as well as for foreign trade promotion. The eight original content areas specified by the EA.NRW have thus been supplemented by further subject areas. The following list provides an overview of current topics:

EnergieAgentur.NRW opened the E-world energy & water 2019 trade fair on February 2, 2019 with the 23rd Future Energy Congress. The congress dealt with the energy system of the future, greenhouse gas-neutral industry and smart energy cities.

Prices

The company has received various national and international awards. Including that of Euro Solar ausgelobten European solar price of the European Union awarded Special Jury Prize of the "Regional Renewable Energy Partnership" for the best European projects in the field of renewable energies and the Regio Stars Awards of the European Commission. The national prizes include the advanced training innovation prize awarded by the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB).
