Engelbert Gross

Engelbert Groß (born December 22, 1938 in Gladbach (Vettweiß) ) is a Roman Catholic theologian.

Life

He studied philosophy , theology and educational science at the universities of Bonn , Freiburg im Breisgau , Graz and Cologne ( state examinations for teaching at grammar school, Mag. Theol. , Dr. theol. ). The priest of the diocese of Aachen completed four years of parish pastoral care in the Aachen coal area and was school pastoral care and high school teacher on the Lower Rhine (19 years), at the same time 10 years teaching assignment at the University of Cologne (Faculty of Curative Education). From 1987 to 2004 he held the chair for didactics of religious education, for catechetics and religious education at the theological faculty of the University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt . He was visiting professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology at the University of Sofia and at the Faculty of Greek Catholic Theology at the Babes Bolyai University in Cluj . In 1990 he was the initiator of the student study trip to Senegal Religious Instruction - Mission - Third World . In 1999 he was the initiator of the International Religious Education Congress on the Millennium Experiencing the World Church - learning from one another - making the earth habitable . From 1999 to 2001 he was dean of the theological faculty in Eichstätt - Ingolstadt . From 2000 to 2003 he was the spokesman for Catholic religious educators at Bavarian universities. In 2003 he was the initiator of the religious education symposium Pain and Longing for Children and Young People as a didactic search key for religious education topics .
