Engelbert Wichelhausen

Engelbert Wichelhausen (born July 19, 1748 in Bremen , † March 28, 1819 in Bremen) was a businessman and Senator from Bremen .

biography

Wichelhausen was the son of the merchant and councilor of the same name Engelbert Wichelhausen (1729–1771) and his first wife Almata (1727–1757) and grandson of the wine merchant and councilor Engelbert Wichelhausen (1679–1761) and brother-in-law of Senator / councilor Jacob Ludwig Iken .
He was married to the mayor's daughter Rebecca Iken (1753-1829); both had a son, the future senator and Bremen mayor Wilhelm Ernst Wichelhausen (1769–1823). They lived in Bremen, Markt 1.

He completed his school days in Bremen and trained as a wine merchant. He became the owner of Weinhandlung Buxdorf Wichelhausen & Co.
From 1787 to 1819 (†) he was the successor of Hermann Heymann Bremen Senator. At that time only a few senators were merchants, but most of them were lawyers. In Bremer French period he was 1811/13 provisional municipal council (council). Since 1788 he owned the Hasse estate as the Wichelhausen estate or the Iken estate at Rockwinkler Landstrasse 43.
