The Engelsmühle is a building in Darmstadt-Eberstadt . Today the mill is used exclusively for residential purposes. For architectural, industrial and urban history reasons, the building is a cultural monument .
History and description
The Engelsmühle , built by Wilhelm Braun in 1707, was acquired in 1827 by the namesake Ludwig Christoph Engel from Pfungstadt . The Mühlengeviert consists of the main building with a massive ground floor and the 1st floor in half-timbered construction . The barn is made of quarry stone . There is also the former stable building. In front of the mill to the southeast is the higher-lying mill garden - held by a retaining wall. In the courtyard is located on the retaining wall , the well house built in 1847. The mill entrance - located in the grounds incision - is up to the gate paved .
