List of domestic dogs

The English Foxhound is an FCI recognized British breed of dog ( FCI Group 6, Section 1.1, Standard No. 159 ).

The English Foxhound is a hound that is particularly suitable for fox hunting and hunts in packs . It is the most popular pack dog for drag hunts in Germany and is also widely used in England.

Fox hunts have been practiced since the Middle Ages. The existence of the packs has been documented for centuries. In the past, however, the packs were not as uniform as the current breed standard . In the 19th century, the packs began to be bred in a targeted manner. The pedigree of English Foxhound packs can be traced back around 200 years, unique in dog breeding. Even today these dogs are still kept in kennels. With kennels we mean large facilities in which the whole pack is housed. The maintenance of kennels is very complex. Keeping packs in kennels means that the animals are shaped and highly socialized in their own species . English Foxhounds are seldom kept as family dogs, for this they would have to be taken out of the pack at an early age so that they are imprinted on humans.
