Engraçadinha: Seus Amores e Seus Pecados is a Brazilian miniseries that was first broadcast between April 25, 1995 and May 26, 1995 by Rede Globo . The original version consists of 18 episodes, based on the novel Asfalto Selvagem: Engraçadinha, Seus Pecados e Seus Amores by Nelson Rodrigues . The screenplay was written by Leopoldo Serran and directed by Carlos Gerbase .

action

The first part tells the youth tragedy of the 18-year-old Engraçadinha (a title translation with the meaningful name would be: "Sweetie": Your love affairs and sins ), played by Alessandra Negrini , daughter of the conservative moral apostle Dr. Arnaldo from Vitória in the southeastern state of Espirito Santo . She is engaged to Zózimo, played by Pedro Paulo Rangel , a simple character, but takes Silvio, played by Ângelo Antônio , fiancé of her best friend Letícia, played by Maria Luísa Mendonça , as a lover. This love triangle turns into a tragedy after father Arnaldo confesses that Silvio is his son. Silvio cannot stand this sibling incest, castrates himself and kills himself in front of the girl. The pregnant Engraçadinha decides to take Zózimo as her husband.

The second part begins after a jump in time. Engraçadinha, now at the age of 38 and still a beautiful woman, played by Cláudia Raia , had fled to a suburb of Rio de Janeiro and lives entirely as a family mother for her children, including her daughter Silene, who watches over her closely. She herself had turned to a strict religiosity out of shame before her youthful sin, but this did not prevent her from entering into a love affair with a Luiz Cláudio, played by Alexandre Borges . Letícia finds out about the secret relationship and blackmailed Engraçadinha with its disclosure, unless the daughter Silene, played by Mylla Christie , would be "put to bed" with her. Since this wish is not granted, Letícia also takes her own life.

The action takes place in the first part around 1940, for which contemporary backdrops were built, including a street and 12 interior rooms as locations. A total of around 700 actors and extras played.
