Enniger chapel

The Enniger Chapel is a chapel in Ennigen , a hamlet in the municipality of Malters in the Swiss canton of Lucerne . The time of construction is not known. It is entered on a map drawn by Gabriel Walser in 1763 . It is said that it was dedicated to the fourteen helpers in need.

1823 the duties and remuneration of Kapell- were Sigrist newly decided the three times daily Englischgruss had to ring. The maintenance of the chapel was taken over in 1934 by the parish of Malters.

Today's chapel, crowned by a ridge turret, dates from 1912. The bell with the inscription “Danket dem Herrn” was cast in 1933 by the H. Rüetschi company in Aarau.

The chapel contains a wooden altar and a few pews. The walls are decorated with wooden figures and pictures. The Pro Ennigen Association renovated the chapel in 1981. It was supported by the neighborhood association , the parish and individual donors. The image of St. Eligius von Noyon , patron saint of farriers from 1766, has also been restored. On August 30, 1981, the renovated chapel was consecrated with a holy mass .
