Enric Cortès

Enric Cortès i Minguella (* 1939 in Guimerà ) is a Catalan Capuchin and biblical scholar .

Life

He studied theology at the University of Freiburg im Üechtland and received his doctorate in Rome in 1972 with the thesis Los discursos de adiós de Gn 49 a Jn 13-17. Pistas para la historia de un género literario en la antigua literatura judía ("The Farewell Speeches from Genesis 49 to John 13-17. Aisles through the history of a literary genre of ancient Jewish literature"; 1976). He has been secretary of the Biblical Society of Catalonia since its inception (1973). He is also a lecturer and director of the Biblical Department of the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia . He is a Capuchin and is now part of the Capuchin Brotherhood of Sarrià .

He researched the Hebrew manuscripts of Girona , published important exegetical studies on the Bible in Catalan and Spanish, and translated many works of ancient Hebrew literature into Spanish. He participated in the Catalan Bible translation prepared by the Catalan Biblical Foundation: he translated the books of Obadja and Malachi . He also worked on the interdenominational Bible translation.

After studying in Freiburg-Rome-Jerusalem, he specialized in ancient Jewish literature and medieval Judaism . He is emeritus at the Faculty of Theology of Catalonia, where he taught Biblical theology . He is also the editor of the Inter-Testament Literature volumes, and he is a member and founder of the Society of Scholars on Catalan Judaism . At ISCREB (University Institute for Religious Studies in Barcelona) he is a teacher of the Hebrew language , late Judaism and the introduction to the New Testament . He published various articles in the Catalan Theology Journal .
