Enric Galwey i Garcia (* 1864 in Barcelona ; † February 10, 1931 ibid) was a Catalan painter who was in the tradition of the landscape painting school of Olot . The family on his father's side came from England. Galwey was the most distinctive painter of the second generation of artists in the Olot School. His work is strongly influenced by Joaquim Vayreda , but also by the Barbizon school .

Galwey had completed his artistic training at the Llotja , the Escola de Belles Arts de Barcelona . From 1885 he continued his education in landscape painting at the Art Academy in Olot with Joaquim Vayreda. In the same year he exhibited for the first time at the Center d'Aquarel·listes de Barcelona . Exhibitions in Madrid , Berlin , Düsseldorf , Paris , London , Venice and Buenos Aires followed . From 1889 he went to further studies with the painters Théodore Rousseau , Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot , Jean-François Millet of the Barbizon School. His works, influenced by this painting school, often show sunsets (dark-toned pictures) or are distinguished by the formation of strong shadows that do not appear decadent. Overall, the tendency towards cautious impressionism emerges in Galwey's work .

In 1915 he won first prize for the painting Paisatge (Landscape) at the Exposición Nacional de Bellas Artes de Madrid. Together with Modest Urgell and Lluís Graner , he founded the Societat Artística i Literària de Catalunya , the artistic and literary society of Catalonia. In his work El que he vist a can Parés (1934, “What I saw in the Parés house”), Galwey describes anecdotes about art and the artists of his time.
