Enrico Cobioni
Enrico Cobioni , also Henri Cobioni (born September 16, 1881 in Tavannes , † October 15, 1912 in La Chaux-de-Fonds ) was a Swiss aviation pioneer . Cobioni, who came from a Ticino family who emigrated to the Bernese Jura , trained as a pilot at the École d'aviation in Chartres and received his license on June 23, 1908 in Somma Lombardo , Italy . The aircraft manufacturer Gianni Caproni let him run his flight school , and Cobioni achieved several world records for speed and flight duration.
Together with a journalist who was on board with him, Cobioni lost his life at the age of only 31 in a plane crash during an aerobatic meeting in La Chaux-de-Fonds in front of 30,000 spectators.
