Enrique Beltrán Mullin

Enrique Beltrán Mullin ( 1917 or 1918 - December 15, 2013 ) was a Uruguayan politician and journalist .

Enrique Beltrán and his brother Washington Beltrán were among the founders of Divisa Blanca 400, a sector within the Partido Nacional that ran in the 1946 elections in Uruguay . Beltrán then held a titular mandate as a member of the Cámara de Representantes as representative of the Lavalleja Department for the Partido Nacional Independiente in the 36th legislative period (LP) from February 15, 1951 to September 7, 1954 . In this capacity he also sat in the legislative periods 39, 40 and 41 continuously from February 15, 1963 until the coup on June 27, 1973 in the Chamber of Deputies. In these three terms, however, he was a member of the Partido Nacional and took the seat for the Department of Montevideo . In 1972 he also served as the Chamber's Fourth Vice President.

Beltrán was a senior advisor to the daily El País , where he wrote columns on current events well into old age, using the pseudonyms "Althaus", "Trambel" and "Desde el Recodo", among others. Beltrán, who was married to María Elena Rohr and had five children, died at the age of 95.
