Enrique de Ossó y Cervelló
Enrique de Ossó y Cervelló (born October 16, 1840 in Vinebre , Spain, † January 27, 1896 in Gilet near Valencia ) was a Spanish founder and saint of the Catholic Church.
Life
Enrique de Ossó y Cervelló was ordained a priest on September 21, 1867 and founded in 1873 the "Society of St. Theresa (of Ávila)" (Spanish: Hijas de María Inmaculada y Santa Teresa de Jesús ), a congregation of sisters that is particularly active in the Service for the education of the youth. He also founded numerous apostolic associations. For his apostolate he wrote various pious writings, including "A quarter of an hour of prayer" (Spanish: El cuarto de hora de oración ). This was translated into 50 languages and is still published today. He also founded the weekly magazine "The Friend of the People" (Spanish: El amigo del pueblo ). He also became famous as the author of a pioneering "Guide of the Catechists".
Beatification and Canonization
Enrique de Ossó y Cervelló in 1979 beatified and on 16 July 1993 in Madrid by Pope John Paul II. Canonized .
His feast day in the liturgy is January 27th.
