Enstrophy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The enstrophy is a physical quantity that is important when describing moving liquids and gases ( hydrodynamics or fluid dynamics ). It describes the formation of a mean value of the square vorticity (engl .: vorticity ; measure of the local shear in a flow ) over a certain area.

Enstrophy is used in fluid dynamics , for example in numerical weather forecasting or when looking at the flow behavior of double glass facades .
