Ententalspitze

The Ententalspitze ( Slovak štít Kačací , Polish Kaczy Szczyt , Hungarian Kacsavőlgy ) is a peak in the running in the east-west ridge of the High Tatras between the Botzdorfer tip (Batizovský štít) in the east and the Eisseespitze ( Popradský Ľadový Štít ) to the west. The Ententalspitze falls to the south into the Botzdorf valley ( Batizovská dolina ) and to the north into the duck valley ( Kačacska dolina ) to the Ententaler Green Lake ( Zelené pleso ). The east ridge of the Ententalspitze is separated from the west ridge of the Botzdorferspitze by the Ententalscharte ( Nižné Kačacie sedlo ).

Ascent

The Ententalspitze is relatively little visited. The ascent is only possible via climbing routes. Access to the north side of the Ententalspitze can be reached from Lake Popper via the eastern Iron Gate ( Východná Železná brána ) or from Łysa Polana through the Poduplias Valley. Access to the south side of the Ententalspitze can be reached from Poppersee via Botzdorfer See, or from Hochhagi . A nice, easy ridge hike leads from the Eisseespitze the ridge over the Ententalspitze and the Botzdorferspitze to the Botzdorfer Scharte.

Surname

According to legend, a duck lays a large golden egg in the duck valley every year on the summer solstice. Visitors to the valley often observed herds of migrating wild ducks.
