Eocanthecona furcellata is a Wanzenart of the subfamily Asopinae , the family of the stink bugs heard (Pentatomidae).

features

The black or dark gray medium-sized bugs have light spots on their upper side. They become 15 to 16 & millimeters long. A light stripe runs centrally over the head. The sides of the pronotum converge laterally to form a spike. The label has a pale spot near each of the basal corners.

Occurrence

Eocanthecona furcellata occurs in South and Southeast Asia. The distribution area extends from India and Sri Lanka in the west through China, Taiwan and back India to Indonesia. The bug species is also found in parts of Japan.

Way of life

The bug species predatory feeds on various arthropods. Their range of prey includes beetle larvae, caterpillars and phytophagous bedbugs, which are usually considered to be agricultural pests . For this reason, the breeding of Eocanthecona furcellata and its use for biological pest control is the subject of various scientific studies.
