The European Pallet Association e. V. (EPAL) is the umbrella organization for manufacturers and repairers of EPAL load carriers . According to its own information, it is the operator of the largest open pallet pool and is responsible for the quality assurance of EPAL load carriers.

The work of EPAL and its national committees creates the foundation for the open pallet pool and enables EPAL load carriers to be exchanged. Around the world there are around 400 million EPAL Euro pallets in circulation that are used across all industries. The auditing company Bureau Veritas , which has been working for the European Pallet Association since 2012, is supposed to guarantee the quality assurance of all EPAL load carriers.

distribution

EPAL pallets
upcycled as a bench

The open system of EPAL load carriers has been established worldwide in over 50 years. With more than 400 million EPAL Euro pallets in circulation, extensive availability is guaranteed.

EPAL's load carriers have become standard thanks to, among other things, adapting them to the needs of the market on the logistics side as well as on the warehouse and retail side. Storage or transport systems across Europe are often designed for the standard dimensions of the EPAL Euro pallet 800 mm × 1,200 mm. In the UK and Ireland, 1,000 × 1,200 mm is the standard.

quality

The open pool of EPAL Euro pallets is the only one in the world that is subject to constant, independent quality testing by one of the most renowned quality testing companies in the world: Bureau Veritas .

IPPC quality mark

Compliance with the ISPM 15 standard is the most important condition in order to be able to use load carriers without restrictions in international goods traffic. EPAL wooden load carriers are all manufactured according to the strict standard of the IPPC and can therefore be used across national borders.

ecology

Quality seal of course

Due to its massive distribution with over 400 million pieces, it can always be used directly by one user where it is no longer needed by another. According to the Pallet Carbon Calculator from ECCM / Camco Group, Skogs Industrierna and timcon, an EPAL Euro pallet saves 27.5 kg of CO 2 . With more than 400 million pieces being distributed, the transport routes of EPAL Euro pallets to the user are reduced to a minimum.
