Eparchy (administrative unit)

Eparchy ( Greek επαρχία ) is a Greek form of administrative division .

Greece

In modern Greece, the term eparchy also stood for a Greek administrative unit that was abolished in 1997 with the "Kapodistrias Plan", which roughly corresponded to a district and was hierarchically located between the urban and rural communities (Dimos and Kinotita) and the prefecture (Nomos).

Cyprus

As such, they exist in the Republic of Cyprus , where they correspond to a district. They also represent the statistical LAU-1 level.
