The eparchy Mavelikara ( Latin Eparchia Mavelikarensis ) is in India located eparchy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church based in Mavelikara , Alappuzha district , Kerala . Since the foundation, the local ordinary has been Joshuah Ignathios Kizhakkeveettil .
history
Pope Benedict XVI founded it on January 2, 2007 from cession of territory by the Grand Archdiocese of Trivandrum , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.
The diocese only includes the Syro-Malankar Catholics of the area. The Catholics of the Latin rite and the Syro-Malabar rite who also live there belong to other dioceses.
