Ephraim Gur

Efraim Gur , Hebrew אפרים גורBorn Ephraim Gorelishvili (* 1. September 1955 in Kulaschi in the province of Imereti , Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic , Soviet Union ) is a Georgian-Israeli politician. Gur was a member of the Knesset from 1988 to 1996. He was also deputy communications minister and deputy transport minister in the 1990s.

Life

Efraim Gur was as Efraim Gorelishvili in Kulaschi ( Georgian კულაში ) in Imereti , a region of Georgia born. In 1972 he immigrated to Israel and worked as an insurance agent. He became a member of the Avoda and became secretary of the party's branch. In the 1988 elections in Israel, he became a member of the HaMa'arach Knesset . In 1990 he left the party to co-found Achdut LeMa'an HaSchalom VeHaAlija and was part of the coalition government led by Yitzhak Shamir 's Likud . He was a candidate for Deputy Communications Minister on July 2, before becoming Deputy Minister of Transport on November 20.

Shortly before the 1992 elections, Gur brought his party to the Likud and was re-elected. On March 7, 1996, he left Likud. He re-founded a party for the 1996 elections, the Achdut LeMa'an Hagana Imigrant . With this party he was no longer successful.
