Epiphyllum baueri is a species of plant in the genus Epiphyllum from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Epiphyllum baueri has a shrubby growth and is richly branched. The first upright, but soon drooping main shoots are round in the lower half (up to 9 millimeters in diameter), flattened and thin above. They are up to 2 meters long and 4 to 10 centimeters wide in the upper half. The side shoots appear on the lower half of the main shoots. They have a short, 0 to 5 (rarely 20) centimeter long rotating base. Above it they are flat, 15 to 80 centimeters long, 4 to 10 centimeters wide and very slightly lobed.
The slightly fragrant flowers are 26 to 30 centimeters long and reach a diameter of 6 to 6.5 centimeters. Your green flower tube is 3.5 to 5 millimeters in diameter and 23 to 26 centimeters long and is covered with tiny scales. The narrow, 3 to 3.5 centimeters long, turned-back bracts are white. The pink stamens stand in a single circle, are 1.3 to 1.8 inches long and protrude. The stylus , which is also pink , has a yellow scar that also protrudes. The fruits are unknown.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Epiphyllum baueri is distributed in Panama in the province of Colón and in Colombia in the department of Chocó in the lowland rainforest. The first description was published in 2003 by Rudi Dorsch .
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is called " Data Deficient (DD) ", i. H. with insufficient data.
