Epithelantha bokei is a species of plant in the genus Epithelantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The epithet of the species honors the American botanist Norman Hill Boke .

description

Epithelantha bokei grows individually and only very rarely sprouts. The shoots reach a diameter of 2.5 to 5 centimeters. Your warts are up to 3 millimeters long. The very dense white thorns stand in 4 to 5 rows. There are about 10 inner and 25 to 28 outer, spread out thorns lying on the body surface, the longest of which are up to 4.5 millimeters.

The pink flowers are 10 to 12 millimeters long and have the same diameter. The fruits are 3 to 9 millimeters long.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Epithelantha bokei is distributed in the US state of Texas in Big Bend National Park and in the neighboring Mexican state of Coahuila . The first description was published in 1969 by Lyman David Benson . Synonyms are Epithelantha micromeris var. Bokei (LDBenson) Glass & RAFoster and Epithelantha micromeris subsp. bokei (LDBenson) U.Guzmán .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
