The Eqrem-Çabej University is a state university in the Albanian city of Gjirokastra . It was founded in 1968 as an external business school of the University of Tirana . In 1969 an agricultural school and an educational institute started. In 1991 the institution became an independent university and became a university. Mathematics, computer science, physics, biology and chemistry are taught in the natural science faculty and a course for midwives is offered. The Faculty of Education and Linguistics offers the subjects of history, geography, economics and various languages ​​as well as educational training. A department for Greek language, literature and culture is aimed in particular at the Greek minority.

The college is named after Eqrem Çabej (* August 7, 1908, † August 13, 1980), a linguist from the city .

The university is a member of the network of Balkan universities .
