Erbio

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Erbio (late 8th century, perhaps early 9th century) was a Frankish nobleman who belonged to the Geroldon family. His father was Gerold , his brother Hadrian . Erbio's importance lies in the fact that he probably represents the genealogical connection between the Geroldons and Count Odo von Orléans , and thus probably also to the Conradinians .

"Hadrian, the son of Gerold", issued a certificate in July 793 "for the soul of my biological brother Erbio". From this it is concluded that Erbio had already died in 793.

Mitterauer, on the other hand, denies this conclusion and instead refers to a donation to the Weissenburg monastery in Alsace in 808. In the accompanying document, both Erbio and his children Uado and Eugenia are named, Mitterauer assumes that the two Erbios are identical to one another.

  2. Mitterauer, p. 14: he probably assumes that foundations for one's own soul were common during one's lifetime and draws an analogy here to an act of proxy because the actual founder is prevented from doing so
  3. ^ Boshof, p. 173. Odo von Orléans was a cousin of Bernhard of Septimania , who was a son of Wilhelm of Toulouse; Regardless of whether Erbio or his brother Hadrian Odo's father is a sister of Wilhelm as mother, which is also indicated by the name "Wilhelm" from Odo's brother (formal alternative: the mother was a sister of Wilhelm's wife, but what the name Wilhelm for Odo's brother can't explain)
  4. Jackman sees Odo as Hadrian's son
  5. secured as Odo's brother, see Dümmler p. 96
