Ruckersfeld is a district of Hilchenbach in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district , North Rhine-Westphalia .

history

Ruckersfeld was first mentioned in 1079 in a deed of Deutz Abbey and in 1566 had a total of 60 inhabitants in ten houses. On January 13, 1624, Ruckersfeld was accepted into the parish and office of Hilchenbach. In 1818 there were already 124 inhabitants in Ruckersfeld. The place lived from agriculture and cattle breeding, especially from the keeping of the cattle breed Red high cattle . The charcoal business came to an end when the Ruhr-Sieg Railway brought the Ruhr coal to the Siegerland from 1861 .

On November 30, 1966, the one-class elementary school, a dwarf school , was closed after 256 years of existence. Until the municipal reorganization on January 1, 1969, the place belonged to the Keppel office . To this day, the place has retained a cultural independence, which was expressed in 1986 in the founding of a home association. The Ruckersfeld Christmas Market has been held annually since 2002 .
