Ercüment Aytaç

Ercüment Aytaç (born March 8, 1965 in Sivas ) is an Austrian writer of Turkish origin.

Life

Ercüment Aytaç was born in Sivas in 1965 and has lived in Austria since 1981. He graduated from high school in Salzburg and then moved to Vienna , where he first started his studies at the Technical University of Vienna .

Artistic work

Aytaç is a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly and the Podium literary group . In 1994 he published his first novel in Istanbul. A little later, in 1996, a volume of stories followed. Aytaç's novel was set to music on WDR. This was followed by various publications of essays and short prose in Austria (including literature and criticism, podium, freeboard), Germany (including Intertaz), Romania, Switzerland, Turkey and the USA, readings and performances in Austria, Germany (including Frankfurter Literaturhaus), USA (Nuyorican Poets Café), Turkey and several times on ORF. He also designed text representations in the Wiener Lichtzeile, audio works and an Internet exhibition for the ORF Kunstradio. He has received numerous awards and prizes.

In 2016 the work Dunya burns was published ; it is about the flight experience of a 12-year-old Syrian girl.
