The Erdinger Herbstfest (popular festival) is an annual folk festival in Erding near Munich from the end of August to the beginning of September .

history

The first autumn festival in Erding took place in 1816 under the name “Agricultural District Festival”. In the following decades the autumn festival was celebrated irregularly, since 1949 it has been held annually. The duration is ten days from the last Friday in August.

Dates of the fair

After the Munich Oktoberfest , the Rosenheim Autumn Festival , the Dachauer Volksfest and the Barthelmarkt in Oberstimm , the Erdinger Herbstfest is the fifth largest festival in Upper Bavaria in terms of visitor numbers ; over 200,000 visitors come to Erding every year. In 2010 Erding celebrated the 70th autumn festival with a flower parade.

As a rule, there are five large rides, four shooting galleries and various stalls with games of skill and lots of people every year.

Tents

There are two marquees:

  • Festival tent of the Fischer's foundation brewery in Erding operated by Römersperger-Richter Bierzeltbetrieb GmbH with 3750 seats in the tent and 1000 seats outside
  • Weissbräuzelt run by the Uwe Pianka family hosts, with 3350 seats in the tent and 400 seats outside. The Erdinger Brewery brews a special Festweiße for the autumn festival. Production surpluses are bottled and sold regionally.

In both tents there is entertainment with changing music groups.
