Erementar Gerad ( Japanese エ レ メ ン タ ル ジ ェ レ イ ド ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Mayumi Azuma , which belongs to the Shōnen genre and has also been implemented as an anime series.

action

Coud van Giruet lost his parents as a child and was taken in by air pirates. After an attack, he finds a young girl named Reverie Metherlence, or Ren for short, among the loot . This girl is an Edilraid .

Edilraid are physically completely identical beings to humans, who can merge with humans in order to then serve them as weapons. However, the consciousness of the Edilraid still exists, which creates more of a "combat alliance" than a control. If a unity of the soul and the emotional situation of the person and the Edilraid is created, this is able to sing Edilraid songs together, which can develop powerful magical powers. Once an Edilraid has united with a person, they are permanent partners and the Edilraid can no longer merge with another person until his partner has died.

When the air pirates are infiltrated by Arquaile , an Edilraid protection organization, and asked to hand over the Edilraid to their care, Coud's ship is attacked by a vicious group called Chaos Choir. This wants to usurp world domination with the help of the Edilraid. After the ship was shot down, Coud and Ren set off on a journey to Edilgarten, the country of origin of all Edilraid. They are accompanied by the Arquaile troop. This consists of Kuea, an Edilraid with constant hunger, Rowen, who is Kuea's human combat partner, and Cisqua, the leader of the trio. During their trip they experience adventures during which a love develops between Ren and Coud.

Eventually Ren is kidnapped by Arquaile against Cisqua's consent, but she manages to free herself and reach the Edilgarten. This is completely devastated and is controlled by Chaos Choir, who want Ren to replace the current Queen Eve. But thanks to his love, Coud succeeds in freeing Ren and reuniting the people and Edilraid with a powerful Edilraid song that exudes harmony.

The characters are detailed and the plot offers action and humor from the start. In the course of the plot, the quality would remain the same, the characters would be further worked out and so every reader could find his favorite character.
