Eri Yamaguchi (athlete)

Eri Yamaguchi ( Japanese 山口 衛 里 Yamaguchi Eri ; born January 14, 1973 in Takino , Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

She won the Hokkaidō Marathon in 1998 and became Japanese marathon champion with her victory at the Tokyo International Women's Marathon in 1999, where she set an Asian record and the current course record with 2:22:12 at the same time.

Because of this performance she was nominated for the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney , where she finished seventh in the marathon with 2:27:03.
