Eric Bennett (archer)
Eric Bennett (born November 4, 1973 ) is an American archer.
Bennett lost his right arm above the elbow in a car accident at the age of 15 . He studied physics at Northern Arizona University , where he received his bachelor's degree . He received his Masters in Educational Supervision from Arizona State University . Bennett now works as a physics teacher and tennis coach at Mountain Ridge High School in Glendale , Arizona .
At the insistence of his father, Bennett began archery in 1999 and first appeared in an international tournament in 2007. He made up for the lack of his right arm with a special mouth release. After several years with this device, Bennett finally switched to a shoulder release, which enabled him to improve his performance. So he qualified for example for the Paralympic Team of the United States and joined the Summer Paralympics in Beijing on. Bennett currently holds seven national archery records.
Bennett is married and has one son.
