Éric Djemba-Djemba (born May 4, 1981 in Douala ) is a former Cameroonian football player with a French passport, who usually played in defensive midfield.
Career
In the club
The midfielder began his professional career in the youth team of FC Nantes in France . In 2001 he was brought from youth to the first team. In 2003 he fulfilled his big dream and moved to Manchester United on the British Isles . In January 2005, after only 18 months at Manchester United, he went to Aston Villa for around 2.5 million euros . Djemba-Djemba had a lucrative advertising contract with Puma , for which he received an estimated two million euros annually. In January 2007 he moved - until the end of the season - on loan to Burnley FC in the Football League Championship . On August 2, 2007, his contract with Aston Villa was dissolved, he then played one season for Qatar SC . After various other positions, he moved to the fifth-class Swiss club FC Vallorbe-Ballaigues in 2016 .
National team
Djemba-Djemba played 35 games for the Cameroonian national football team and was also in the squad for the 2002 World Cup, but he was not used.
