Eric Emerson

Eric Emerson (born June 23, 1943 - † May 28, 1975 in Manhattan ) was an American dancer and actor. He became known as an actor in Andy Warhol films . Emerson died on May 28, 1975 of unknown causes. The official cause of death was a car accident, but it is believed that he died of a drug overdose .

Emerson was a trained ballet dancer . When he attended a concert at the Velvet Underground in 1966 , Warhol noticed him, who invited him to his factory . When the band performed in the following years, he appeared as a dancer with Gerard Malanga and Mary Woronov . Emerson had his first film role in The Chelsea Girls , where he is seen stark naked and giving a lengthy narcissistic monologue about the beauties of his own body.

The rock band Sonic Youth created a musical memorial for Emerson with the song Eric's Trip on the record Daydream Nation (1988).
