Main focus of work and research

Mührel's work and research focus is on history, theories as well as scientific and philosophical foundations and aspects of social education and social work . It includes social pedagogy as an "educational answer to the social question of an era", social work as a "socio-political movement lever". His predominantly phenomenological and hermeneutic approaches to social pedagogy refer to Emmanuel Levinas , Jacques Derrida , Max Scheler , Werner Marx , José Ortega y Gasset and Michael Winkler . From a historical perspective, he addresses the understanding of social pedagogy in Paul Natorp and especially in José Ortega y Gasset in the sense of a "social pedagogy as a political program" in its current importance for further (global) social developments. In doing so, he includes current tendencies in political philosophy. Mührel also works on philosophical - and also theological - topics based on Blaise Pascal , Michel de Montaigne , Fernando Pessoa and Albert Camus, as well as issues of bio- and anthropotechnologies and information ethics .

Another focus of our work is education for humane and sustainable development. To this end, Mührel works on the scientific advisory board of the global project "Extension of Human Rights to Education" and with the VDW in the second clarification project initiated by Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker . He also refers to the thinking of a consideration and Convivance at Corine Pelluchon and an Ethos of skill in sympathy Werner Marx, whereby a reason as will be discussed reportedly and receiving as an ethical basis for a formation to a second reconnaissance.

Together with Bernd Birgmeier from the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt , he is the editor of the series Social Work in Theory and Science at Springer VS , Wiesbaden, and co-editor of the Zeitschrift für Sozialpädagogik (ZfSp). With Markus Hundeck from EAH Jena , he publishes the series Social Work and its epistemological approaches at Beltz Juventa Verlag .
