Eric Yuma

Eric Yuma Mbayo (born May 5, 1969 in Lubumbashi ) is a former Belgian football player and athlete .

Life

Yuma was one of the best athletes in Belgium in the long jump and triple jump disciplines in his age group. In 1988 he took part in the long jump as well as in the 4x100 meter relay in the Junior World Championship.

As a footballer, he played in the running back position with the Brussels Raiders from 1989 , and in 1991 he was under contract with the New York / New Jersey Knights in the World League of American Football . In the further course of his career Yuma played for the Luxemburg Lions (1994), the Amsterdam Crusaders and the Brussels Angels , before joining the Munich Cowboys in 1997 . In 2002 he joined the Braunschweig Lions . He was on the pitch for Lower Saxony until the end of the 2006 season and won the German championship with them in 2005 and 2006 and the Eurobowl in 2003 . After he had finished his playing career, he took over the support of the running backs in the Braunschweig coaching staff in 2007. In this position, Yuma contributed to winning the German championship titles in 2007, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019 as well as the Eurobowl victories in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
