The Erich Kaestner Lake is a small artificial pond in Darmstadt , Hesse, which is drained but currently (2018).
geography
The Erich-Kästner-See lies on the northeastern edge of Darmstadt-Kranichstein . The lake is approx. 250 m long and approx. 60 m wide.
History and description
The Erich-Kästner-See was created as a rainwater retention basin in the early 1970s . The lake is fed by the Ruthsenbach . The lake is drained via an overflow into the Ruthsenbach.
etymology
The lake was named after Erich Kästner .
fauna
Different species of birds live in the Erich-Kästner-See; including ducks , kites and wild geese . Numerous native fish species animate the pond.
