geography
Spring streams
Ruthsenbach
The Ruthsenbach is the 12 km long, southern and left source brook of the Mühlbach . It is also seen by some as its upper reaches. It rises in the Bessunger Forest on the outskirts of Roßdorf (near Darmstadt) .
Silz
The Silz is the 10.8 km long, eastern and right source brook of the Mühlbach. It is also seen by some as its tributary. It rises in the Messel hill country .
course
The Mühlbach successively crosses the districts of Arheilgen , Wixhausen , Graefenhausen , Schneppenhausen , Worfelden , Klein-Gerau and Groß-Gerau . At times the creek has almost dried up due to a lack of water, little rainfall and partly also due to falling groundwater levels in the surrounding region. The stream is largely straightened and designed unnaturally, which is why it is also rated as heavily to completely changed in the classification of the water structure (assessment class 5 to 7). In the local area of Groß-Gerau it is piped in places. The discharge is regulated by artificial retention measures such as the flood retention basin Aumühle ( ⊙ ) southeast of Darmstadt-Wixhausen.
On the tee structure ( ⊙ ) in the district Gräfenhausen between Sensfelder yard and Ottilie mill on the outskirts of Darmstadt / Wixhausen of artificial branches apple creek from the north. This then meanders in a westerly direction and finally flows into the Hegbachsee near Groß-Gerau.
The Mühlbach flows into the Schwarzbach at Trebur , which in turn flows into the Rhine a little later at Ginsheim-Gustavsburg .
