Erich Angenendt

Erich Angenendt (born May 27, 1894 in Castrop , † May 10, 1962 in Dortmund ) was a German photographer .

Life

Erich Angenendt began an apprenticeship as a photographer in Borken in 1908 ; he continued his training at CA Schrey in Rheydt . After brief studies at the Düsseldorf Art Academy and military service, he took his master's examination in 1919 at the Dortmund Chamber of Commerce. From 1920 Angenendt worked as a freelance photographer in his own studio (Othmer, Angenendt & Co. industrial and advertising photography). After the destruction of the studio in 1943, war service and imprisonment, he reopened the studio with his son Rudi in 1950. Angenendt is one of the most important industrial photographers of the 1950s; he worked u. a. for the VEW . Artistically he was close to the photographic trend of subjective photography operated by Otto Steinert . He was chairman of the Society of German Photographers and received numerous national and international awards.
