Erich Gerer (born March 23, 1945 in Fußach near Bregenz ) is an Austrian sculptor .

Erich Gerer completed an apprenticeship as a mechanical engineer. He has been a sculptor since 1968. Preferred motifs are animals and mythical creatures made of wood. Since 1975 he lives in the district Hausbruch in Hamburg .

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Erich Gerer carved the largest owl (1984) and the largest bear (2001) in the world. The bear consists of a log, has a diameter of approx. 2.5 m, is approx. 6.5 m high and weighs approx. 15 t. It took Gerer about 1200 hours to carve.
