Elisabeth Axmann

Elisabeth Axmann , also Axmann-Mocanu (born June 19, 1926 in Siret in Bukowina , today Romania ; † April 21, 2015 in Cologne ) was a Romanian-German writer .

Elisabeth Axmann spent her childhood in Bukovina, Moldova and Transylvania . From 1944 to 1946 he fled, stayed and worked in Romania. 1946/47 Abitur, 1947 studies in Sibiu . 1954 marriage and move to Bucharest , there until 1970 culture editor at «Neuer Weg». 1970 editor at Kriterion Verlag. 1972 editor of "Neue Literatur". Numerous translations. 1977 escape from Romania. Since 1978 mainly art and literary criticism in Romanian.

Axmann was married to Titus Mocanu (1923–2004), professor of aesthetics at the University of Architecture in Bucharest. She died in 2015 at the age of 88. The couple's grave is located in Cologne's southern cemetery (hall 36).
