Erich Hanke (born June 7, 1912 in Berlin , † October 17, 1998 in Sulzbach (Taunus) ) was a German garden architect .

Hanke completed a gardening training. He completed the assistant examination in 1930 with excellent results and therefore received a scholarship to the gardening school in Oranienburg. From 1946 to 1948 he studied in Geisenheim and graduated as a state-certified horticultural inspector. With his planning office founded in 1948, Hanke designed numerous larger green spaces, primarily in Hesse, such as the Frankfurt-Nordweststadt project (1965). Probably Hanke's greatest success was the chance to organize the Vienna International Garden Show 1974 ( WIG 74 ). Hanke was involved in the nature conservation advisory board and was chairman of the Hessen state group in the Association of German Landscape Architects (BDLA) from 1974 to 1982 . On July 5, 1976, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon.
