Erich Holtz

Erich Holtz (born December 18, 1921 in Grandshagen , district of Greifenberg i. Pom. , † April 30, 2004 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

After finishing elementary school, Holtz completed a commercial apprenticeship. He then worked in an industrial company as a commercial clerk. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier . After the end of the war he worked as an employee from 1946 to 1978. He was managing director and executive district chairman of the German Federation of Trade Unions in Helmstedt .

Holtz joined the SPD in 1946 and became chairman of the Helmstedt local association, a member of the local sub-district committee and finally a member of the Braunschweig district committee. He had been a member of the district council of the Helmstedt district since 1948, at times as chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the district council. He was a member of the council of the city of Helmstedt from 1964 to 1970.

Erich Holtz was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament from March 12, 1970 to June 20, 1982 (6th to 9th electoral term). He received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon and 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Holtz was married and has two children.
