Erich Theodor Holtz

Erich Theodor Holtz (born December 29, 1885 in Storkow (Mark) , † June 27, 1956 in Wustrow ) was a German painter . He is assigned to the group of the lost generation .

Life

Erich Theodor Holtz was the son of a pharmacist. After studying at the arts and crafts school in Dresden and at the art academy in Berlin , he lived in Berlin before he worked as a freelance painter in Haus Lindenhöhe in Prerow from 1914 to 1924 . Here he ran the Darßer Kunsthütte with Theodor Schultze-Jasmer . The move to Wustrow was followed in 1934 by a marriage with Hedwig Holtz-Sommer . Holtz found his motifs in the immediate vicinity of the lagoon landscape . He also painted still lifes and portraits .

In 1946 he was chairman of the " Künstlerkreis Fischland ", which had set itself the task of setting up a platform for art and artists on the Fischland. In 1949, on the initiative of the writer Käthe Miethe, they created murals together with Hedwig Holtz-Sommer and Georg Hülsse in the Althäger school. Holtz was a member of the artist collective Ahrenshoop .

His grave is in the Fischlandfriedhof in Wustrow.
