Georg Hülsse (born December 30, 1914 in Düsseldorf , † April 9, 1996 in Ahrenshoop ) was a German painter , graphic artist and photographer .

Life

After an apprenticeship as typesetter , Georg Hülsse attended the Wredow School of Drawing in Brandenburg from 1934 to 1937 and later the master craftsman school in Krefeld with Walter Breker . As a soldier in the military from 1937 to 1945, he attended the Dresden University of Education during a study vacation in 1942 with the aim of training as a graphics teacher. In the same year he married. After being a prisoner of war until 1949, he returned to his family, who had lived in Ahrenshoop since 1943.

Here he became a freelance commercial artist involved, the orders were mainly in the production of advertising graphics for products of the food industry and the illustration of technical literature. For many years he was responsible for the design of the books at Hinstorff Verlag Rostock , for the programs and posters of the Putbus Theater and the Rostock Volkstheater (see works), whereby in later years he also used photography for his work. Hülsse was a member of the Association of Visual Artists ; In 1974 and 1979 he received the Johannes R. Becher Medal from the Kulturbund .

From the 1980s onwards, Georg Hülsse became increasingly involved with watercolor painting , creating a large number of landscape paintings ( Fischland ), still lifes with flowers and garden paintings.

“With the transition into the eighth decade of life, Georg Hülsse made the freely chosen decision to finally end the creative period characterized by his graphic and photographic work and to devote himself to watercolor painting, which was previously only occasionally done. What Georg Hülsse apparently achieved in no time at all in this difficult area turned into a masterful declaration of love for his Fischland, his house and his garden. "
