Friedrich Schulz (born December 18, 1925 in Berlin ; † June 3, 2014 there ) was a German publicist, journalist and writer.

Life

Friedrich Schulz was born in Berlin in 1925. After attending elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk from 1940 to 1943. In 1943 he was called up for the Reich Labor Service in Pomerania at the Pütnitz airfield near Damgarten . From 1944 to 1948 he was taken prisoner of war by the Soviets while serving at the front in World War II. From 1949 he worked for the magistrate in Berlin. After studying, he worked as a journalist and editor for German television from 1959 to 1990, and from 1963 for Prisma , the business and consumer magazine of GDR television.

From the 1960s onwards, Friedrich Schulz was regularly on vacation in Fischland, Darß and Zingst . From the 1980s onwards, his interest in this landscape and its regional issues was expressed in numerous newspaper and magazine articles. When he retired in 1991, he began to publish around twenty books on the region's art and local history. The Ahrenshooper artists' lexicon became a standard work in regional art history.

He sold the archive he had built up over the years with more than 2000 books and other materials to the district of Northern Western Pomerania ; it has been available to the public in Ahrenshoop since 2000 . In 2011, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the community, Friedrich Schulz was awarded honorary citizenship in gratitude for his commitment to researching the local history and the cultural development of the artists' village Ahrenshoop.

Friedrich Schulz had been married since 1951 and had three daughters. Friedrich Schulz died in Berlin at the age of 88.
