Erich II, Duke of Mecklenburg , (born September 3, 1483 , † December 22, 1508 ) was Duke of Mecklenburg .

Life

Erich was the fourth child and the second son of Duke Magnus II and his wife Sophie of Pomerania . He enrolled at the University of Rostock on April 17, 1494 and was honorary rector of the university three times. From 1502 to the beginning of 1504 he went on a trip to Italy , accompanied by Hinrich Boger . After his father's death on December 27, 1503, he ruled together with his brothers Heinrich V and Albrecht VII and his uncle Balthasar in the Duchy of Mecklenburg . The latter died on March 16, 1507. Erich himself probably died on December 21 or December 22, 1508. He was buried in Doberan in the Doberaner Münster . He remained unmarried and died childless.
